Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Malkin Show!
Without the services of Sidney Crosby, the Penguins made a statement tonight. It wasn't perfect but their effort showed that they are more than one player. But Evgeni Malkin had the biggest statement of all. Everyone knew the burden of the team would fall on his shoulders and he delivered. It was as though he wanted to scream, "I am every bit as good as Crosby!" While he only had the empty net goal at the end, he pulled off some amazing plays, including going end-to-end undressing every Montreal player along the way and an awesome pass to Petr Sykora for a breakaway. And how bout that forechecking from the fourth line for the first goal! Sabu finally got to play for the first time in about a month and he was solid, earning the shutout. Come on guys, let's keep this going!
